TIFF Transforms Summer 2019 Edition

TIFF Transforms

Summer 2019 Edition

2019 is a big year for TIFF. It marks our next chapter, with new Co-Heads Cameron Bailey and Joana Vicente leading the organization. To launch their bright and bold vision, they asked our community what they are most passionate about from a list of five priority projects: access for all, filmgoing excellence, Filmmaker Lab, film preservation, and Programming Academy.

Thousands of people told us about which priorities excite them, and we’re delighted to give you an update about each of these five projects, which are providing incredible and impactful opportunities through film. Welcome to the Summer 2019 TIFF Transforms Report!

Filmmaker Lab

The 2018 Filmmaker Lab participants had an inspirational four-day immersive experience with TIFF last fall. You don’t need to take our word for it — the participants shared with us how impactful it was.

Every day, TIFF’s Film Reference Library preserves film and film culture for future generations. This year, the Library launched two projects: rehousing 300 films and an audit of the David Cronenberg Collection.

Programming Academy

Since we announced the creation of Programming Academy, we have been hard at work to create a new opportunity for the next generation of film programmers.
