We Are One: A Global Film Festival

May 29 to June 7 | 7am to 7pm EDT

We Are One: A Global Film Festival is a free, 10-day online event born of the idea that the film community can come together during a crisis — both in celebration of movies and in support of COVID-19 relief efforts. Presented by Tribeca Enterprises, the festival will spotlight over 100 films co-curated by 21 prolific festivals from 35 countries, and includes features, shorts, documentaries, music, comedy, and conversations from around the world.

It’s important right now for festivals to bolster the industry and bring audiences together. As part of the international film festival community, TIFF is delighted to be a part of this very worthy initiative. We are in great company with other festivals in sharing content from our collective past to be rediscovered by new audiences in a communal experience.

TIFF has selected the Ugandan film Crazy World, which had its world premiere as part of TIFF’s Midnight Madness programme in 2019, along with two talks that speak directly about the diversity, ingenuity, and range of Canadian filmmaking. First is a Master Class with acclaimed actor Tantoo Cardinal, moderated by filmmaker and former TIFF programmer Danis Goulet. The second is a look at David Cronenberg’s 1996 film Crash, in conversation with Cronenberg and frequent collaborator Viggo Mortensen.
