2025 Frequently Asked Questions

General

What is TIFF’s Code of Conduct?

A cornerstone of TIFF's belief system is that everyone has the right to respect, and to fair and equitable treatment from others. TIFF does not tolerate violence, mistreatment or harassment — verbal, physical, sexual, or otherwise — toward staff, Volunteers, delegates, audience members, or attendees at any of our festivals, conferences, or events. Our staff and Volunteers are committed to ensuring the best possible experience for all our attendees. If the safety of any of our guests is in question, we will take immediate steps to ensure the matter is addressed.

How can I stay updated on TIFF news?

Please subscribe to our newsletter here to stay updated with the latest TIFF news.

How do I contact fellow delegates at TIFF?

To find registered delegate contact details, please visit the Delegates List on the Delegate Resources website. These details are updated regularly and are subject to change. Our delegate resources site opens to registered delegates on August 1st, 2025.

What is the difference between the Industry Membership and Industry Accreditation?

Industry accreditation provides access to the Toronto International Film Festival's screenings, conferences, and networking events during the Festival. The pass is ideal for Film Industry professionals attending TIFF from September 4–14, 2025. An Industry Membership offers year-round benefits like access to select TIFF Industry events, discounted tickets, and discounted rates for Festival passes. The Membership supports year-round engagement with TIFF programming from October to August. Members also receive discounts on Festival submissions and exclusive offers throughout the year. Please note that having an Industry Membership does not mean you are accredited for the 2025 Festival. For Festival access, you must register for accreditation separately.

Accreditation

How do I apply for TIFF Industry accreditation?

Accreditation for TIFF 50 opens June 2. Review last year’s pass structure and keep an eye on your inbox for your invitation to register.

Can I cancel my accreditation? Do you offer refunds?

No, all pass sales are final as outlined in the accreditation Terms and Conditions.

Can my colleague pick up my pass on my behalf?

Colleagues can pick up passes on behalf of others. This requires a signed authorization letter. For more details, please email registration@tiff.net.

What should I do if I lose my pass during the Festival?

Please report the loss of your badge to the Industry Office at the Hyatt Regency immediately. Reissuing your badge will cost $30 CAD.

How long will it take to receive confirmation of my accreditation application?

Registration requests will be reviewed within five business days of submission. You will receive a confirmation email if you are eligible for the selected accreditation. If you are not eligible, we will inform you via email. Accreditation eligibility is assessed annually.

How can I access the TIFF online delegate resources?

To access TIFF Delegate Resources as a registered delegate, please visit here on or after August 1, 2025.

I am unable to pay with my card. What should I do?

For all payment inquiries, please email registration@tiff.net.

How can I obtain my accreditation invoice?

For all invoice requests, please email registration@tiff.net.

Should I list my personal or professional address? Will my pass be shipped to my address?

Please provide your professional address when registering, if applicable. The pass must be picked up in person by the delegate at the Industry Centre.

Do you have day pass options?

TIFF does not offer day pass options for accredited Industry.

Is Industry accreditation tax-exempt?

Industry accreditations are not tax-exempt. All accreditations are subject to local taxes.

Am I eligible for Industry accreditation?

Industry accreditation is intended for film professionals who have been active in the film industry over the past two years. Our resources are primarily geared toward those operating as producers, sales agents, distributors, exhibitors, talent agents, below-the-line crew, and writer-directors. If you are a newcomer to the film industry (under two years of professional experience), a scholar, and/or a student, we recommend our Conference Pass.

Where do I pick up my pass? Where do I register onsite?

Onsite pass pick-up and onsite registration will be available from September 2 at the Industry Centre located on the mezzanine level of the Hyatt Regency Hotel at 370 King St. W. For pick-up, please be prepared to show a form of identification or a business card.

Opening hours will be as follows:

  • September 2–7: 8am–8pm
  • September 8–12: 8am–6pm
  • September 13: 8am–12pm

What is the accreditation process?

Once you’ve purchased a pass, we will review the details provided on your form. If you qualify for the pass that you have selected, we will process your payment and send a confirmation letter. If not, we will recommend a different way of exploring the Festival, such as purchasing public tickets. Be sure to complete your registration form with as many details as possible. If we require more information, we will contact you.

Can passes be shared among colleagues?

Each delegate joining the Festival must be accredited in order to access screenings, the Industry Conference, and all other benefits. Passes cannot be shared. Should pass sharing be observed by any of our venue staff, TIFF has the right to request the pass holder forfeit their pass and future eligibility for accreditation will be reviewed.

What are the payment options?

For a speedier process, we recommend paying by credit card or debit card. In some cases, you will need to authorize the transaction with your bank before sending payment. If your payment fails, do not create a new registration — our system has saved your progress, and we can help you get back on track. Please contact registration@tiff.net for this and any other payment questions. TIFF prefers Visa.

I’ve registered but have not received a confirmation email.

Our accreditation process takes up to three to five business days. If you do not receive a confirmation after that time, email registration@tiff.net. Ensure that our email address is added to your contacts so important messages aren’t blocked by spam filters.

I have a film in Official Selection. Do I still have to pay for my pass?

Films in Official Selection are eligible for one complimentary pass for a producer on the film and one complimentary pass for a sales agent representing the film. These passes are non-transferable, and there is a maximum of three complimentary passes per sales agency. Executive producers are ineligible for the producers pass. If you are part of the crew, you may be eligible for a discounted rate, so please inquire with registration@tiff.net. If you are part of the cast, please contact your Film Coordinator.

Do you have a discounted pass for students and scholars? How can I request one?

Students and scholars can access our Industry Conference pass at a discounted rate of $300 CAD + tax (regular rate: $515 + tax).

To access the student and scholar discount for the Conference Pass, please send the following details with your request to registration@tiff.net:

  • The name of your academic institution
  • The program you are enrolled in (if applicable)
  • The name and email address of your program director or coordinator (if applicable)
  • The year of your expected graduation (if applicable)
  • Your student number (optional)
  • Details about any recent film activity

How can I support emerging filmmakers from underrepresented communities?

Help us continue to support emerging and diverse talent by donating a pass and providing them with access to the Festival’s Industry Conference, Press & Industry screenings, and networking tools. Since 2020, we’ve supported 1,000 creators in collaboration with community organizations and partners. Industry leaders like you can support this initiative here.

Accessibility

I have accessibility needs. How can you help?

We strive to accommodate passholders with accessibility needs. For more information, please contact registration@tiff.net. Members of the public should contact Customer Relations at customerrelations@tiff.net.

TIFF preferred hotels are in close, walkable proximity to the Festival footprint to minimize travel times and transportation costs for delegates. For all hotel inquiries for accredited delegates, please email registration@tiff.net.

Exhibitors and Marketing Screenings

Does TIFF have a market? Can I set up a stand/be an exhibitor?

TIFF will be launching an Official Content Market in 2026. For 2025, TIFF remains an “unofficial market” with a unique business model. Although this year we will not offer traditional exhibitor opportunities, we will continue to invite National Agencies and their sales agents to spotlight their national cinema at our Industry Centre, located at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, in the form of a stand. Agencies may showcase and promote Official Selection films, presentations, and talent from their region to maximize their visibility to the North American market. If this applies to you, please reach out to sales@tiff.net for more information.

I’d like to be an exhibitor at the 2026 market. Can I get more information and cost assessments now?

We’d love to talk to any company interested in future exhibition opportunities for 2026. Please reach out to sales@tiff.net.

Can I book a Market screening?

Yes. Market screening slots are available throughout the Festival and open to films both in and out of Official Selection. Companies will have the opportunity to book in-person Market screening slots starting in early July. For details, please contact privatescreenings@tiff.net.

Events, Conference Sessions, Screenings, and Ticketing

Can I enter my event with a screenshot or print-out of my ticket?

No. Your barcode includes leading-edge technology with fraud and counterfeit protection, so screenshots or printouts cannot be used. If you, a colleague, or a client arrives at a TIFF screening with a screenshot, entry will be denied. Support can only be provided to the original ticket holder. Government ID and the payment method for this transaction will be required for assistance.

Can I transfer my advance tickets to a colleague if I’m not using them?

Tickets associated with your pass via the advance ticketing selection window are not eligible for transfers.

What is the difference between Press & Industry and Market screenings?

Press & Industry screenings are private showings for accredited Media and Industry delegates to view films for coverage or consideration. Market screenings are specifically geared toward buyers and sales agents aiming to sell distribution rights. Not all Market screenings are available to accredited Media and Industry delegates.

What is the difference between rush and first-come, first-served event access?

Same-day tickets are reserved seats available on the show day from a limited inventory. Rush access provides first-come, first-served seating based on availability before a screening or session.

I am having trouble accessing my tickets and Ticketmaster. Who should I reach out to?

For any questions related to Ticketmaster tickets, please call 416-599-2033 or toll-free at 1-888-258-8433. For questions, please email customerrelations@tiff.net.

How can I access the Industry Conference schedule?

The Industry Conference schedule will be available in mid-August and easily accessible via tiff.net/industry.

Are online screening options available?

Online screening options are not available at TIFF.
