Director Joel C. Lamangan reunited with his Flor Contemplacion star Nora Aunor and screenwriter Ricardo Lee for this gritty political melodrama set in contemporary Manila. Aunor plays Biring, a domestic who works for the obscenely wealthy Vivian (the legendary Rosanna Roces, also on view in They Call Me Joy), who makes her money by conning young women into sexual slavery offshore. Steadfastly loyal to her boss, whom she believes saved her from life on the streets, Biring will entertain no criticism of Vivian whatsoever — but when she is falsely accused of murder, the lives of both women change as Biring is drawn deeper and deeper into the underworld.
