Loosely based on the life of Garrel's father Maurice, Jealousy explores the power shifts within a relationship when it is tested by infidelity. Actor Louis (Louis Garrel) leaves his wife and young daughter to live with unemployed actress Claudia (Anna Mouglalis). While Louis is out at rehearsals, Claudia, confined to their tiny apartment, finds herself increasingly despondent. As the couple's claustrophobic intimacy increases, they both seek to test the limits of fidelity when they are apart from one another. Filmed in monochromatic widescreen by cinematographer Willy Kurant, Jealousy is "almost achingly specific, a close and rigorous study of the nuances of feeling that bind and separate Louis and the women in his life" (A.O. Scott, The New York Times).
