Oscar winner Denys Arcand introduces his first major narrative feature, a coolly nasty and scathingly satirical study of Montreal's municipal politics and civic corruption.
Denys Arcand was born in Deschambault, Quebec. His many features include Le Déclin de l'empire américain (86), which won nine Genie Awards, as well as the International Critics' Prize at Cannes; Jésus de Montréal (89), which won the Genie for best film and a Jury prize at Cannes; and Les invasions barbares (03), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Les invasions barbares, Stardom (00), L'Âge de ténèbres (07), and Le règne de la beauté (14) all screened at the Festival.
