One To Watch: Kill Zone 2
Goofy, but so much fun
WHY TO WATCH: Because it's one of a kind, and it's a masterpiece. Our own description of Sans Soleil calls it "the greatest 'essay film' ever made." Elsewhere it's been named one of the best documentaries ever created (a Sight and Sound poll in 2014 rated it the third-best of all time). Oblique, thought-provoking, unclassifiable, and masterful: Sans Soleil — playing Sunday, October 2 at 1pm at TIFF Bell Lightbox — is a must-see for fans of mind-bending cinematic experiences.
THE CRITICS' TAKE:
"What make the film so extraordinary are its images... If there's one thing that links all these disparate images, it's this kind of stirring, unsettling quality they all have."
"The great Chris Marker’s finest achievement may be this aesthetically, emotionally, and intellectually stirring film."
