Christopher Nolan on the form and film formats of Dunkirk
"Well, sometimes it's just like, 'fuck it,' you know?"
During this past Festival, director Christopher Nolan joined Cameron Bailey on stage at Ontario Place's historic Cinesphere for a Q&A after a screening of his latest film, Dunkirk, in IMAX. In the tête-à-tête, Nolan discussed his approach to historical and emotional authenticity, avoiding CGI, shooting on the actual location where the events took place, his use 65mm IMAX cameras, and using cinema as a means to explore our perception of time.
See Dunkirk the way Christopher Nolan meant you to see it: on film. Dunkirk returns to TIFF this January 3, 6, and 7 in TIFF Bell Lightbox's Cinema 1 — the best screen in Toronto — as part of the Magnificent 70mm programme! Tickets are available now.
