Visionary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro continues his spectacularly popular series of Master Classes, exploring films by the great Spanish surrealist. At this event, del Toro will introduce a double bill of Nazarin and Viridiana, followed by an extended discussion of themes in Buñuel's films.

Guillermo del Toro

Guillermo del Toro was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he studied at the Centro de Investigación y Estudios Cinematográficos. His features include the Festival selections Cronos (93), The Devil's Backbone (01), and Pan's Labyrinth (06), for which he received an Oscar nomination for screenwriting. Additional credits include Hellboy (04), Pacific Rim (13), and Crimson Peak (15). The Shape of Water (17) is his latest film.
