Tips + Tricks

1. Double-check your screening date and time
Schedules sometimes change. Check regularly at or on the TIFF App. See a full list of schedule changes at during Festival.

2. Remember your ticket
Print at home, save to your mobile phone, or pick up at the box office. You will need a ticket to get in, of course.

3. Bring only the essentials
The safety and security of all our visitors and guests is a priority for TIFF. Security measures are in place at all TIFF events, and bags are subject to inspection. Hazardous, inappropriate, offensive, and suspicious items, including aerosols and alcohol, will not be permitted at our venues.

4. Show up early
15 minutes early is on time. 5 minutes early is late. We recommend showing up one hour prior to your screening. We start admitting the Rush line 10 minutes prior to start time. Latecomers are not permitted.

5. Line up
Learn to love lines — film festivals are all about lineups! Make new friends. And, as this is September in Toronto, please come prepared for the weather — whether that means a hat and sunscreen or an umbrella and a jacket.

6. Have assigned seating? Know where your seat is
Please note assigned seating is available only at Roy Thomson Hall and Princess of Wales Theatre. For all other venues, seating is General Admission. Please check your ticket, and ask a TIFF Volunteer if you don't know where you should be.

7. Smile — you’re at a film festival!
We’re all in this together. Our staff and Volunteers are here to ensure the best possible Festival experience for all. Please treat them (and your fellow Festival-goers) nicely, and enjoy your film!
