The directors of The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom pay tribute to the late Roald Dahl with these six beautifully animated stories based on the beloved children’s author’s twisted fairy tales.
To celebrate the 100th birthday of beloved children's author Roald Dahl, directors Jakob Schuh (The Gruffalo) and Jan Lachauer (Room on the Broom) offer a retelling of his classic 1982 poem collection of the same name. While each of the six rhymes is based on a classic fairytale, the five stories featured take unexpected twists and turns that shed new light on the adventures of Red Riding Hood, Snow White, and others.
Revolting Rhymes expertly weaves together these beautifully animated tales while staying true to Dahl's wondrous imagination as a master storyteller. Narrated by the Big Bad Wolf (Dominic West), Red (Rose Leslie) and Snow (Gemma Chan) embrace their dark sides with some help from the three little pigs and gambling dwarves. In the second half of the story, Cindy (Bel Powley) discovers a lovelorn Jack (Isaac Hempstead Wright) next door, but must also deal with her evil stepsisters, Jack's insensitive mother, and a gruesome prince in the background.
With an all-star voice cast that also includes Rob Brydon and David Walliams, Revolting Rhymes is funny, gory, and wholly satisfying.
Content Advisory: Coarse language, violence, pistol pointed at head of wolf who is shot dead, dead pigs, slapping and beating of a boy, beheading of animated characters with sword
