Sent to a special clinic in the mountains after a life-threatening asthma attack, 13-year-old Amelie hears a legend about an old tradition said to possess magical healing powers, and sets out to scale the dangerous alpine range to find it for herself.
Intro and Q&A with director Tobias Wiemann on April 8 & 9
Headstrong 13-year-old Amelie hates being sick. To make matters worse, when her latest life-threatening asthma attack lands her in the hospital, her doctor advises her concerned parents to ship her off to a special clinic in the mountains. Amelie's mischievous daily antics while at the facility provide a way for her to cope with her illness, but once boredom sets in she decides to run away. While hiking — and ducking the authorities out searching for her — she meets Bart, a local teenager, who tells her of an old tradition said to have healing powers: the Alp Mountain Fires. Determined to give this cure a try, Amelie sets out to scale the alpine range and jump the fires.
Mountain Miracle deals honestly with Amelie's struggles as she deals with a debilitating illness and navigates the path between childhood and adulthood. It's also an exciting adventure tale of friendship, inner strength, and love.
